Looping around the better-known sights, as well as some of the more unusual and quirky ones, you'll be given detailed directions, a map, clues (with answers in the back), and some snippets of history about the medieval city.

5 May & 19 May 2024 / The grounds of Fonthill Old Abbey will be open on 5 and 19 May 2024 in aid of Parkinson’s Cure and local charities. Visitors (including dogs on leads) are invited to take a good hike or gentle stroll through the woods and around the lake while the bluebells are in bloom. *Unfortunately, in the event of high winds, if Stourhead (National Trust) closes, then the Fonthill grounds will also close. Please check the Stourhead website.

The Estate, which is ten thousand acres and right on our doorstep, consists of farmland, woodland and formal gardens. Whilst visiting you will not only be able to see the outstanding natural beauty of the Estate, but also its incredible history and all the activities that take place within it.

Salisbury

Salisbury is a medieval city, just nine miles south of Stonehenge. The City boasts stunning architecture, an array of independent shops and a thirteenth-century cathedral with the tallest spire in Britain. Salisbury is also home to the best-preserved of only four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta.
